Secondary Department

Students in the secondary department study National Curriculum subjects which are adapted to their learning needs. In order to build independence, students experience learning in groups across the department as well as in their tutor group. At KS3 students are taught through topics for History, Geography, Music, DT and Languages.

At KS4 students have the opportunity to study the ASDAN Transition Challenge and Personal Progress/ Personal Social Development, courses accredited and certified by a national organisation.

Lessons are differentiated and designed to develop the students’ ability to reflect, evaluate, work independently, be creative, work collaboratively and participate to the best of their ability.

Students either use the hydrotherapy pool in school (currently being refurbished) or swim at Longwell Green Leisure Centre.
